Webinar replay: meet the team, tech, and traction behind RISE šŸŽ„

A few days ago, we hosted a live webinar to give everyone an intro to the team, tech, and traction behind RISE. Our co-founder and CTO Blake Sessions and Head of Defense Programs Nolan Hobart joined me to answer audience questions.

If you missed it, or want a second look, the full replay is ready: watch here šŸŽ„

Here’s a recap of a few audience questions that got right to the heart of what we're building:

šŸ”’What stops a hydraulics giant from copying Beltdraulicā„¢? Blake broke down our three-layer moat: 1) 20+ patents on the belt and the application, 2) trade secrets on how it's built and tuned, and 3) a growing customer base and defense partners that help us continuously refine our products.

⚔How do electric machines get power on oil rigs and military bases? Wherever there's a power plant, we can plug in. Oil fields already run generators or grid power, and sometimes battery banks. Beltdraulicā„¢ works with whatever type of current is available. For the military, reliability is everything, so our defense systems are hybrid by design and can work with batteries or diesel-electric, whatever the base has on hand.

šŸ¤–Is there an opportunity for RISE in humanoid robots? We believe the real opportunity for humanoid robots is outdoors, where machines aren't boxed in by hallways and doorways. RISE’s 2-ton Beltdraulicā„¢' actuator is actually in the sweet spot for building large-scale humanoid and quadruped systems doing heavy lifting in the field.

šŸ’°Why raise from everyday investors instead of going with institutional capital? This community gives us distribution and amplification. Our investors become advocates, customers, and suppliers. We've raised $27M from top VCs like Techstars and Fortistar, and institutional capital will keep playing a role as we grow. This round lets us control the timing of when we raise our next institutional round and lets us hit key milestones first. In turn, that gives us the leverage to get a better deal down the road, for all of us.

We’re incredibly grateful to our engaged investor community that’s now 3,100+ strong with $7.9M raised through Wefunder.  If you know any fellow robotics enthusiasts, engineers, deep tech investors, or anyone who gets excited about hard tech - send them the webinar replay and invite them to join us.
