Proud to share that RISE was mentioned alongside some incredible Boston-base robotics companies in last week’s Boston.com article covering the storied journey of iRobot.

More than twenty years ago, I walked through the doors of iRobot to continue my career in robotics. Back then, we weren’t just building robots — we were shaping what was possible. iRobot took robotics out of the lab and into people’s homes. We gave the world the Roomba. iRobot took robotics out of the lab to Ground Zero, to Iraq, to Afghanistan, to Fukashima, to Deep Horizon, and many other dangerous environments.  We gave the world the PackBot, the Warrior and the Seaglider.

For the first time, a robot reliably solved a real-world problem. For the first time, a robot saved a life, and then, many lives.  For the first time, a robot helped with dull, dirty or dangerous work daily. And we kept shipping, iterating, improving.

That early chapter taught me that the most disruptive technologies sometimes look as simple as a “frisbee with wheels” or a “box with treads”.

iRobot paved the way for what’s possible; now, RISE is one of the companies carrying that torch forward.

I see in RISE many of the same traits I saw at iRobot - grit, vision, and a drive to change the world. With your support, we can make a dent in the heavy machinery industry, just as iRobot did in home robotics.
